“La Rosalía” in Puerto Rico
On September 9, 2022, Rosalía, the Spanish singer and songwriter performed in the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot (locally known as “El Choli”). This was her first time performing in Puerto Rico after visiting countries like Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic in her MOTOMAMI tour. The winner of eight Grammys and one Grammy Latino stole the hearts of many Puerto Rican fans performing her album MOTOMAMI, singles from “El mal querer”, and collaborations she has with different artists. Not only did Rosalía sell out the venue, proving that she has won over the hearts of Boricua fans, but she also shared that in her youth, she would listen to reggaetón, and that many Puerto Rican songs have influenced her musical career.
The singer did not perform alone, but with her crew of all male backup dancers: eight men, dressed in black and white throughout the concert with an androgynous aesthetic. Rosalía likes to call them her “Motopapis”. Sam Vázquez, Daniel Muñoz, Jaxon Willard, Antonio Spinelli, Stanley Glover, Óscar Ramos, Mykee Move, Eddy Soares, and Chandler Davids all make a part of the team.
The concert started with one of the most popular songs on the Motomami album, “Saoko.” All of her fans also sang “Bizcochito,” which has recently gone viral forthe iconic choreography. Her new single “Despechá” also received much love. Additionally, taking advantage of the fact that she was “in the land of reggaeton,” Rosalía also sang songs by other artists such as “Gasolina,” by Puerto Rican singer Daddy Yankee.

Marking another stage in the evening, while singing “Diablo” the red lighting began to take over the stage; Rosalía sat alone on the stage with a towel to begin removing her makeup as well as some hair extensions. She also chose to throw the extension to the public.
Rosalía did not stop entertaining the audience as she danced & played her electric guitar and her piano throughout the performance. Finally, after an hour and a half of reviewing all her hits, Rosalía closed the night with “Sakura,” one of her best-known songs. Rosalía did not simply put on a show, she was the show.
