For the second time, the Astronomy Club hosted an observation night under the starry night at Baldwin. We inaugurated this activity on November 30th last year, and coincidentally, we repeated the same date for its occurrence this year. Members of the club and the ninth and tenth grade Astronomy class attended the event. Everybody was encouraged to bring food and drinks which led to a table full of delicious treats that the whole group enjoyed.
The planning process for this event was extensive, as we had originally organized with La Asociación de Observación, Difusión Astronómica y Ciencias del Espacio (AODACE) that the Observation night would be on October 26th. Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, we had to cancel it with short-term notice. After various meetings with Mr. Mercado and email exchanges with AODACE, we agreed on a second date.
When the second date finally came, it was extremely exciting. The event started at 7:00pm, and then the two members of the association arrived and rapidly set up their state-of-the-art telescope. Students and parents had the chance to look at Saturn, Jupiter (and its four moons), and different stars. Juan, a seasoned astronomer, would explain to us each planet we observed and share fascinating facts.

The activity concluded at 9:00pm, providing us with approximately two hours of stargazing time. The experience was truly delightful as students not only gained knowledge about planets and stars, but also had the unique opportunity to observe them up close. The event created a social atmosphere, allowing students from various grades to engage in conversations and form bonds over their shared interest in astronomy. In hindsight, it proved to be a great success, and I feel privileged to have both planned and participated in such a memorable occasion.
