One Friday. Every Month.

Service Fridays: CAS Project

A Little About Us!

Service Fridays is a new initiative that will be led by Marla Valentin and myself, Paola Soler. We are juniors, and this is our CAS project, which we are quite passionate about. First of all, it is a very interesting initiative; Marla and I chose it because we enjoy volunteering at various organizations. As a point of reference, for our eighth grade Community Service Project, we spent the majority of our time in an orphanage with children between the ages of 3 and 9, and this experience inspired us to design our CAS project. This CAS project involves visiting various types of services across the island, such as the public library, orphanages, public schools, children with special needs, homeless outreaches, and food banks.

In order to achieve the best results and involve the Baldwin community, on the first Friday of every month we will host a drive that is specific to the location we will visit that month. For example, in February, we will host a book drive that will be announced to the entire school later this week, as we will be volunteering at the San Juan Community Library. To give you guys a sneak peek, we will be hosting a toy drive in March as we intend to visit the orphanage we visited in eighth grade on a regular basis.

How can the Baldwin community get involved?

  1. You can donate to the drives that will be hosted the first Friday of every month. They will be advertised in the morning announcements and in flyers throughout the campus.
  2. CONTACT US if you want to join us in volunteering one of the Saturdays for one of the organizations.
  3. Reach out to us by email! The addresses are: [email protected][email protected].
  4. When we advertise fundraisers which we are currently planning, please show support!
